No ankle biters
Brandberg, 5th of April 2024 – We drive inland from Hentiesbaai and head for Twyfelfontein. From the road, in the distance, we see the famous Brandberg. The highest point is the Königstein with 2573m. We stop at the White Lady Café for a drink. It is named after a prehistoric rock painting, to be seen in the Brandberg mountains. It is midday and hot, even in the shade. A strange dog slowly walks towards us, I have never seen this breed. The server tells us it’s an Australian cattle dog. He or she wobbles in between the tables and guests, no cattle to be herded. We are in Damaraland, today Kunene, and move on to our destination, the Twyfelfontein country lodge. The lodge is embedded in the mountain, it beautifully blends into the background. We go to our rooms and relax, watching the thatched roof and wooden beams. The mosquito net still knotted, so far we have seen not a single ankle biter. On the C35 to Twyfelfontein (FDC) Jeep leaves a dust trail in Damaraland (FDC)
